Housing Counseling Required for All CHFA Loans
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) is committed to helping first-time homebuyers obtain homeownership. Since studies indicate that housing counseling reduces the likelihood that a homebuyer will become seriously delinquent, CHFA is requiring homebuyer education for ALL CHFA loans reserved on or after May 1, 2015. Housing counseling must be provided by an approved CHFA/HUD Housing Counseling Agency

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, applauded the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for releasing nearly $700,000 to Connecticut public housing agencies to provide rental assistance for 76 homeless Connecticut veterans – many of whom live with chronic disabling conditions – with case management and clinical services. A total of almost $65 million will go to agencies across the United States to provide housing and services for 9,333 homeless veterans nationwide

West Haven Housing Authority Receives $111,942 Federal Grant To Address Veteran Homelessness

That money means 13 vouchers will be available to get veterans off the streets or out of shelters and into a permanent home.
