DeLauro Applauds Grant for Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven
WASHINGTON, DC – February 26, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today applauded the announcement that Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, Inc. is being awarded a $92,275 grant from NeighborWorks America. The funds are being used to support Neighborhood Housing Service of New Haven’s mission of revitalizing New Haven’s neighborhoods.
“Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven has played a positive role in New Haven for more than three decades, and it is great to see its great work rewarded with this grant,” said DeLauro. “NHS has revitalized neighborhoods and refurbished homes in the parts of our city that need it most, and it has changed lives: providing residents with education about home ownership, and communities with the opportunity to grow stronger by taking charge of their own homes and neighborhoods. I look forward to the continued good work of NHS in New Haven, and I thank NeighborWorks America for providing NHS with its support.”
NeighborWorks America is a public nonprofit organization, established by Congress in 1978 as the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (through Public Law 95-557) and is the nation’s original community/public/private partnership model, with locally-driven, efficient community development and leverage of the public investment as its hallmarks. Over the past 35 years, NeighborWorks America and its affiliated local community-based NeighborWorks organizations have consistently replicated this successful model in more than 4,500 communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; in America’s urban, suburban and rural communities. Local NeighborWorks organizations receive grants, training, technical assistance and other programmatic support and services from NeighborWorks America.
