DeLauro Announces $403,423 In Federal Grants For West Haven, Naugatuck Fire Departments

-

NEW HAVEN, CT – August 31, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today announced the West Haven and Naugatuck fire departments have been awarded federal grants for $314,404 and $89,019, respectively. West Haven will use their grant for fire officer training and Naugatuck will use theirs for firefighter breathing equipment.

“Firefighters take on incredible amounts of risk and their communities need to ensure that they have all the training and equipment necessary to protect themselves. These grants will provide equipment to help our firefighters breathe while they are battling blazes in Naugatuck and train firefighters in West Haven to deal with the myriad of situations they may find themselves in. Fire and emergency departments across Connecticut continue to benefit from this highly competitive grant program. I will continue to advocate for increased federal funding so that first responders have the equipment and training they need to protect our communities.

The grant program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
