Back Bay

The Back Bay is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the country, and one of the premier neighborhoods in Boston. The Back Bay is where a lot goes on, and it’s home to Boston staples like the Boston Public Library and Newbury Street. The Back Bay is known for its beautiful examples of 19th century urban design, as evidenced by the many rows of Victorian brownstone homes.

Living in the Back Bay is great, as you’re just a short walk from Fenway stadium a few neighborhoods over. A lot of Boston’s popular colleges are in the Back Bay too, like the Berklee College of Music and the Boston Architectural College. The Back Bay also has some fantastic nightlife, making it a premier destination for young professionals.

Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Boston, and as such is recognized by the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Located just south of the Boston Common, Beacon Hill is full of Colonial and Greek revival architecture. Beacon Hill is full of historic homes and landmarks, including the Massachusetts State House and the Francis Parkman House.

Located along the Charles River, Beacon Hill is a very expensive neighborhood in Boston. Historical figures such as John Hancock, Louisa May Alcott, and Robert Frost all called Beacon Hill their home.

South End

Just south of the Back Bay, you’ll find the South End neighborhood. Many people new to Boston are confused because the South End is not actually due south of downtown Boston. The South End is home to the Boston Medical Center, the Boston Ballet, and Boston College.

Since the 1880s, the South End has been one of Boston’s most diverse neighborhoods, although it’s increasingly becoming an upper middle class neighborhood. Since the neighborhood is so diverse, the food in the South End is very diverse and there are dozens of different types of ethnic foods. Just like the rest of Boston, the South End is full of beautiful architecture that makes it one of Boston’s premier neighborhoods.
