NEW HAVEN, CT – May 29, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) applauded the West Haven Housing Authority today for receiving a $117,274 federal grant to alleviate veteran homelessness. That money means 15 vouchers will be available to get veterans off the streets or out of shelters and into a permanent home.

“The brave men and women who serve our nation overseas deserve our admiration, our grateful thanks, and, when needed, our assistance. When so many families are struggling to get by, this grant to the West Haven Housing Authority will help our homeless veterans find the shelter and support they deserve.”

There are approximately 9,000 homeless veterans across the country. The grant announced today has been made possible by the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.
