The funding will be used to improve housing stability for 300 veteran families in Southwest Connecticut. Washington, DC - July 3, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4), Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded two grants to The WorkPlace, a Workforce Development Board in Bridgeport, Conn. The first grant for $299,670 was awarded under the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP), and the second grant for $150,000 was awarded under the Incarcerated Veterans’ Transition Program (IVTP)

DeLauro (CT-03) announced today that The Workplace, Inc., Southwestern Connecticut’s Regional Workforce Development Board, will be receiving a one year grant of $299,670 to provide local, homeless veterans with job training aimed at helping them succeed in civilian careers. The grant has the potential for up to three additional years based on funding availability.

DeLauro (CT-3) announced today that the Waterbury and West Haven Housing Authorities have been awarded HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) vouchers. The Waterbury Housing Authority will receive $188,526, and the West Haven Housing Authority will receive $196,470, part of $58,627,081 in housing support for homeless veterans being awarded nationwide

April 24, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — State Senator Paul Doyle (D-Wethersfield) said today state funding to underwrite design work for renovations at the Connecticut Veterans’ Home in Rocky Hill will qualify for federal matching funds. Senator Doyle said the State Bond Commission approved $489,000 last week for architectural and engineering fees to get the project started but the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs will provide 65 percent of the estimated $10.3 million total construction cost.
