May Shows Rise in Single-Family Home Sales
Connecticut REALTORS® reports that single-family residential home sales in Connecticut increased 3.7 percent comparing May 2015 to May 2014. The median sales price of $262,000 represents a 0.4 percent decrease from $263,000 in that same time period. Median indicates that half the homes sold for more and half for less. Total units of homes sold were 2,721 in April 2015 and 2,624 in April 2014
Mortgage woes lead to more foreclosures
Connecticut's foreclosure filings declined between June and July, but the number is still up for the year so far and is approximately 100 percent higher than the July 2006 filings.Nationally, the number of foreclosure filings last month jumped 93 percent from July 2006 and rose 9 percent from June, the latest sign homeowners are having trouble making payments and finding buyers during the national housing downturn.
