Rep. Courtney To Host A “Housing Resource Expo” For Eastern Connecticut Homeowners
WASHINGTON, DC – August 3, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Representative Joe Courtney announced today that he will host a “Housing Resource Expo” on Wednesday, August 5 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Connecticut College’s Crozier Williams Building located at 270 Mohegan Avenue in New London, to provide information for both first time homebuyers and responsible homeowners concerned about keeping up with their mortgages because of the economic downturn.
Courtney stated, “Unfortunately, the economic recession has not spared homeowners from plummeting home values or foreclosures. This forum will provide the information necessary to help some at-risk homeowners keep their homes. As the housing market has shown signs of recovery, I want to encourage prospective first time homeowners to learn more about how to purchase a home. This expo is an opportunity for current or future homeowners to sit down one-on-one with counselors and have their questions answered.”
The expo will feature over 30 vendors from all areas of the housing sector including the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and will include legal, financial and credit counseling resources. The event will also feature two 45 minute breakout sessions, a First Time Homebuyer Workshop and Foreclosure Prevention Workshop, presented by NeighborWorks New Horizons.
The forum will be hosted in conjunction with NeighborWorks New Horizons, a New Haven based agency, which assists in creating permanent affordable housing opportunities throughout the state of Connecticut.
For more information and preregistration for the First Time Homebuyer and Foreclosure Prevention workshops please contact Emma Pietrantonio at 860-886-0139.
Media is welcome to attend.
