The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) is committed to helping first-time homebuyers obtain homeownership. Since studies indicate that housing counseling reduces the likelihood that a homebuyer will become seriously delinquent, CHFA is requiring homebuyer education for ALL CHFA loans reserved on or after May 1, 2015. Housing counseling must be provided by an approved CHFA/HUD Housing Counseling Agency

The vouchers will offer permanent supportive housing to veterans who have experienced homelessness

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) applauded the West Haven Housing Authority today for receiving a $111,942 federal grant to alleviate veteran homelessness. That money means 13 vouchers will be available to get veterans off the streets or out of shelters and into a permanent home. The grant announced today has been made possible by the Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.

Friday, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2) joined Rachael Johnston, a real estate broker, and Evan Preston, State Director of ConnPIRG, to call for action on Courtney’s bill, H.R. 1434, the Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act.
