Housing Counseling Required for All CHFA Loans
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) is committed to helping first-time homebuyers obtain homeownership. Since studies indicate that housing counseling reduces the likelihood that a homebuyer will become seriously delinquent, CHFA is requiring homebuyer education for ALL CHFA loans reserved on or after May 1, 2015. Housing counseling must be provided by an approved CHFA/HUD Housing Counseling Agency
Blumenthal Statement on Supportive Housing Funding For Connecticut Veterans
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, issued the following statement today regarding $696,000 in new funding announced today by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide HUD-VASH vouchers for 76 homeless veterans in Connecticut. West Haven Housing Authority Receives $111,942 Federal Grant To Address Veteran Homelessness
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) applauded the West Haven Housing Authority today for receiving a $111,942 federal grant to alleviate veteran homelessness. That money means 13 vouchers will be available to get veterans off the streets or out of shelters and into a permanent home. The grant announced today has been made possible by the Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.

Governor Malloy Announces Funds to Support Affordble Housing Throughout the State
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner and Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) Board Chairman Evonne M. Klein today announced investments of more than $60 million in funding for 14 affordable housing projects across the state. The projects will build and rehabilitate 851 affordable apartments and 246 market-rate units.

CHFA WINS NCSHA AWARD FOR PROGRAM EXCELLENCE
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) received a national award for Program Excellence from the National Council of State Housing Authorities (NCSHA) at the Council’s annual conference last week. More than 2,000 units of affordable rental housing have been financed by leveraging funds from this CHFA program since 2011.
