AG Jepsen, DCP Advise Customers of Meriden Heating Oil Company to Seek Alternate Supplier

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 4, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Meriden-based Ace Oil Co. has closed its doors, and customers should seek an alternate home heating oil supplier for future deliveries, Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner William M. Rubenstein announced today.

“My office is working closely with DCP, and we have been in contact with representatives of the company,” said Attorney General Jepsen. “While we are reviewing the situation, Ace Oil customers should take steps to find an alternate supplier to fulfill their heating oil needs and can contact DCP to file a complaint.”

“Customers are advised to retain copies of all records while DCP and the Attorney General are reviewing this matter,” Commissioner Rubenstein advised.

Customers who have prepaid, budget or service contracts and have not received the oil or service can file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection. DCP has posted a complaint form on its Web site that consumers can use for this purpose. Consumers can also file a complaint with DCP by calling toll-free 1-800-842-2649.

Additionally, customers who have paid for any product or service from Ace Oil by credit card and did not receive the product or service are advised to contact their credit card company as soon as possible to dispute payment of the balance owed.
