One-Day ‘Seller’s Extravaganza’ at Lockwood Terrace Slated for May 21

NORWALK, CT – May 16, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — A Seller’s Extravaganza of the eight remaining condominium units at Lockwood Terrace in Norwalk will be held Saturday, May 21st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the site at 130 Main Street, William Raveis Real Estates’ New Homes Division announced.

The property, which was once home to six generations of the prominent Lockwood family, now features 19 condominium units. This includes nine one-bedroom, one-bath units, each with private entrance, in three, totally restored Victorian homes. Of these, there are three condominium homes remaining unsold, and the prices of these units will be reduced from $140,000, $160,000 and $165,000, respectively, to $100,000.

Each of the units in the Victorian homes features gas heat, central air conditioning, hardwood floors, original detailing, a decorative fireplace mantel and front or rear porch.

There are also 10 condominium units in newly constructed townhouses that surround a courtyard which complements the historic buildings that front the road. Of the 10 townhomes, just five remain unsold. The townhomes range in size from 1,750 to 2,000-square-feet and feature two or three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a home office, hardwood floors, trey ceilings, stainless steel appliances, granite kitchen counters, private balconies, gas heat, central air conditioning and two-car attached garages. Prices on the townhomes will be reduced from $359,900 to $295,000.

“With just eight remaining units for sale, we wanted to jumpstart the spring buying season with a special, one-day only event,” said John Tarducci, Senior Vice President of William Raveis’ New Homes Division. The community is located within easy walking distance of Main Street and Wall Street.

Mortgage lenders representing several area banks will be on the premises to discuss financing options and help buyers prequalify. Down payment assistance may be available to qualified buyers. Three model units for both the Victorian homes and townhomes will be open for viewing.

The three Victorian homes represent the only remaining historic streetscape on Main Street near downtown. The oldest house was built circa 1761 by Joseph Lockwood, the great-great grandfather of LeGrand Lockwood, who built the Lockwood-Mathews mansion. The house is one of only eight buildings that survived the burning of Norwalk by British forces in 1779. In 1884, the home was remodeled and turned into a two-family residence. The second house was built about 1842 by Charles Lockwood, a merchant tailor, while the third house, the Holmes-Glover house, was built around 1857 and was moved to its current site in the 1950s by Dr. E. P. Crosby.
