DELAURO, PICARD ANNOUNCE $669,865 HOUSING, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR WEST HAVEN

Washington, DC – June 14, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) and West Haven Mayor John Picard announced a Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant of $689,865 to the City of West Haven today.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides funding to state and local governments to help develop and restore communities through affordable housing and economic opportunities for local residents.

“I am very pleased that West Haven has been awarded this Community Development Block Grant, which will help those in our communities who need it the most. This grant will help to transform the city for the better, ensuring our citizens and their families have access to affordable housing,” Congresswoman DeLauro said. “This critical funding will help to revitalize West Haven and expand opportunities during these tough economic times, and I look forward to seeing its positive impact.”

“I want to personally thank Congresswoman DeLauro and our federal delegation for working hard to secure this latest allotment of CDBG funds for the people of West Haven,” West Haven, Conn., Mayor John M. Picard said. “This vital funding will continue to help us achieve the revitalization goals of our community and expand economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents. I would also like to commend the members of our Community Development Administration, who have been working together for many years to earmark and manage these CDBG funds for a wide array of community needs.”
