DeLauro Announces $2,725,292 in Housing Grants for Third District

-

Washington, DC – January 20, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced several federal grants, totaling $2,725,292, for organizations in Connecticut’s 3rd District from the Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance program today.

Administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, these competitive grants are intended to provide coordinated, community-based assistance to homeless individuals, and to address the underlying causes of homelessness, such as physical, economic, and social needs. The Continuum of Care system includes transitional and permanent housing to homeless individuals and families, treatment and assessment programs, job training, and health care.

“These critical programs improve the quality of life for our homeless population, helping them off the streets, into stable housing, and getting them the assistance they need to rejoin the community,” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “Particularly important for homeless families and the disabled, many of who have been victims of this difficult economy, these grants will help the homeless get back on their feet. I look forward to seeing the positive results these funds will bring to the 3rd District and across the country.”
