May Shows Rise in Single-Family Home Sales

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Connecticut REALTORS® reports that single-family residential home sales in Connecticut increased 3.7 percent comparing May 2015 to May 2014. The median sales price of $262,000 represents a 0.4 percent decrease from $263,000 in that same time period. Median indicates that half the homes sold for more and half for less. Total units of homes sold were 2,721 in April 2015 and 2,624 in April 2014.

Townhouses and condominium sales in Connecticut decreased 1.9 percent comparing May 2015 to May 2014; with a median sales price of $163,500 representing a 3.2 percent increase from $158,500 in that same time period in 2014. Total units sold were 732 in May 2015 and 746 in May 2014.

Statistics released from the National Association of REALTORS® on June 22 indicate total home sales nationwide (includes single-family homes, single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops) increased 9.2 percent comparing May 2015 to May 2014; and the median national home sales price is $228,700. Regionally, Northeast home sales increased 11.3 percent in that same time period; with a median sales price of $269,000.
