CHFA Selects New Executive Director

The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Karl. F. Kilduff of Trumbull, CT as its new Executive Director. The board recently completed its national search for a new agency head.

U.S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Congressman Jim Himes (D-4) today announced $2.4 million in grant funds awarded to The WorkPlace of Bridgeport, which will be used towards improving opportunities for adults and youths who have been involved in the criminal justice system. The WorkPlace is an organization that is geared towards strengthening and developing the Connecticut workforce.

May Shows Rise in Single-Family Home Sales

Connecticut REALTORS® reports that single-family residential home sales in Connecticut increased 3.7 percent comparing May 2015 to May 2014. The median sales price of $262,000 represents a 0.4 percent decrease from $263,000 in that same time period. Median indicates that half the homes sold for more and half for less. Total units of homes sold were 2,721 in April 2015 and 2,624 in April 2014

Gov. Malloy: State Homelessness Dropping Due to Rapid Results Efforts

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today praised the efforts of rapid results teams from across the state who participated in 100-day challenges to end homelessness in five different regions of Connecticut. The reductions are part of the state's efforts to end homelessness among veterans by the end of 2015 and chronically homeless individuals by the end of 2016

Blumenthal, Bipartisan Coalition Introduce Bill to Establish Infrastructure Finance Authority

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) joined a bipartisan coalition of eleven Senators in introducing legislation to establish a new infrastructure financing authority to help states and localities better leverage private funds to build and maintain the nation’s outdated infrastructure. CHFA PROGRAMS RECEIVE STATE & NATIONAL RECOGNITION

The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) received an award and has been nominated for a national award for two programs that focus on small-scale affordable multifamily rental housing developments. The Connecticut Main Street Center was awarded the Jack Shannahan Prize for Public Service to CHFA for its “Come Home to Downtown” program.

East Hampton Woman Sentenced to More Than 5 Years in Prison for Real Estate...

Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ANN HILS, 55, of East Hampton, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 63 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for operating a real estate appraisal scheme.
