DELAURO ON SBA DISASTER ASSISTANCE LOANS
New Haven, CT – September 8, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following information today in response to the Small Business Administration’s announcement of Disaster Assistance Loans, following President Obama’s Disaster Declaration, being made available to Connecticut homeowners and businesses.
Homeowners, individuals who rent, and businesses can qualify for these Disaster Assistance Loans. Up to $200,000 is available for homeowners, and up to $40,000 for individuals who rent, for repair or replacement of storm-damaged real estate. Up to $2,000,000 is available for businesses to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, equipment, inventory, and other business assets. An additional 20 percent increase of the loan may be granted to make improvements to properties to protect them from damage in any future disasters.
For small businesses, including farms and aquaculture operations, and most private non-profit organizations, Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available. These loans are not contingent on physical property damage, and are specifically to help these businesses and organizations meet their capital needs and stay in business.
“I am very pleased that the Small Business Administration has made these critical loans available to Connecticut residents, and particularly for the 3rd District, which has suffered major damage. These loans will help our local businesses and homeowners to rebuild and recover from the devastation of Tropical Storm Irene,” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “I look forward to seeing these loans in action, and to helping our communities move forward.”
