Lieberman Applauds More Than $7.1 Million for CT Community Development and Job Growth
WASHINGTON, DC – September 23, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today praised the release of $7,162,353 in Recovery Act funding to improve living conditions, provide affordable housing and create economic opportunities. These funds were distributed to eight municipalities across the state, as well as to the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. The grants were released by the federal Department Housing and Urban Development as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“The goal of Recovery Act funding is to stimulate our local economies and job markets and to assist our nation and state’s most vulnerable citizens during these difficult economic times,” Lieberman said. “These funds will enable the cities and towns in Connecticut to provide affordable housing for needy residents, while creating new jobs across our state.”
The following municipalities and state department will be receiving funds:
Bridgeport – $883,094
Hartford — $1,028,157
Manchester– $176,939
Meriden – $244,198
Middletown – $110,460
New Britain — $505,078
Stamford – $303,817
West Hartford – $294,083
CT Department of Economic and Community Development — $3,616,527
